melanie pittman photography bio picture

good day there... i'm melanie

thanks for stopping by to vist me today!  i hope you enjoy your time here, and come back often to see what has been growing in my "freshly pic'd" garden. i will post as often as i can with images from the amazing people and familes i am privlidged to photograph as well as all the exciting {and sometimes boring} things going on in my day to day life.

i live in lubbock, texas with my wonderful husband kirk. i feel so blessed to have the life that i do, and thank The Lord everyday for giving me the gift of photography. my eyes have been opened up to a whole new world... you could say that I have a fresh perspective! i also chose the theme of "freshly pic'd photography" because I believe that the most valuable possesions we own are the relationships we grow. we can keep those priceless memories fresh by preserving them in pictures.

a garden of grandchildren

You may reconize this couch. It belonged to Evan’s grandmother and they were only allowed to sit on it in their “Sunday Best.” Well all the grandchildren were in town (3 all the way from California!) so we threw together a little photoshoot =) I was so happy that I got a good shot of them all looking at me with good expressions!!

This one looks much warmer and brighter when I edited it. I still haven’t figured out why my save for web isn’t working right. Some images look fine and others not as good… :( abby2

I must use this old barn door again! I love it!!

He may never come back!

Kirk love’s to cook. He is amazing at it! Now he has ventured off into the world of BBQ and I don’t think he will ever be the same. Two weeks ago he entered his first Cookoff and got 2nd in Ribs and 10th in Brisket out of 46 teams. It was so awesome! Now he is getting ready to cook for 4th of July… this is the scene in his office. What else can I say?

The Stallings

I have to admit, I am pretty partial to my neices’ and nephew… but they live in Dallas and I can’t photograph them all the time. So, I have decided to adopt these guys to fill that void :) Oh my they were so well behaved and comfortable in front of my camera. Not to mention the way too awesome collection of clothes that I had to choose from! If it had not been 110 degrees outside, I could have gone wild! Thanks B.  for letting me play with you guys. I have ideas swirling in my head for next time!!

A busy boy

Meet Cas. His mommy and daddy are two of my favorite people in the world! I thought we could meet to get some 6 month shots of him. Can you believe he is already crawling! He did pretty good but we tired him out pretty quick… just means we have to meet again soon and I won’t complain about that! Look at those eyes… :)

these two are a little strange on color. When I saved them for web it pulled out a lot of color so I increased the saturation but it looks odd. Promise it looks better in originial file!image4

Sweet and 16 :)

Kalynn turned 16 a few days ago and Kid’s Sake Magazine contacted me about shooting her for the front cover. They wanted something different than usual and I was excited about the challenge. When I started to photograph her, I knew immediately that it was not going to be a challenge at all. In fact, I could have shot her all day! She is not only adorable on the outside but super sweet on the inside too! Now I don’t know how we are going to pic!

FYI: The colors will be much better in print than on web.

Baby Perry

Sweet baby Perry and his mom were so much fun to be around. This was such a treat for me to come into their (way too cute) home and see what creativity I could come up with. I think I did pretty well. Hope you like your sneak peek Mrs K. You are such a fun mommy, can’t wait to watch him grow!

I did this one in a vintage wash. It has the feel of a picture from 20yrs ago with that yellow tint to it. I think I like it :)

one from the wedding I shot this weekend…

So I am not a wedding photographer but for  friends as great as Crystale & Ryan… I’ll make an exception :)

I am not use to shooting 1,000 images that I have to go over so it might take me a bit to blog all the one’s that I would like, but this is one that I thought was pretty cool. Just to let ya know that I haven’t forgot about my “daily” blog that has turned into my “weekly” blog :)

They are moving soon, so I thought it would be fun to have some pictures that say “Lubbock County.”
