Have a nice Camera but no clue how to use it?

Want to learn how to use it or just make your images look awesome for you scrapbook or facebook?

I am now teaching a Freshly Pic'd Photo 101 Class.  I did my first one January and it was a big hit! It's only $70 a person! You get alot for your $70 to take home: a dvd to watch, my custom action that I use on all my photos, and a set of album templets.

Once I get 12 to sign up then I will have another one. I think I have 4 right now.

Drum roll please… my new logo :)

Here is my new logo! I totally love it! Thanks Renee with Ribbons of Red Graphic Design for being such a fantastic designer. It’s so fresh, and happy :) We decided to do with a “seal of freshness” if you will. Like what you see on boxes of imported fruit.

Pictures coming soon…. & lenses for sale

I promise that I will have some pictures coming soon!

My new logo should be revisied by the end of this week  or early next week, and I am waiting for it to put on my newest images. I also have the other half of a photo session to finish but can’t b/c the wind has been so bad the last few days.  I feel bad that I haven’t posted any pics lately but now I am too excited about my new logo!

Also, I have decided to sell a few lenses if anyone gets on here who is a photographer, or someone from my photo class that is interested. I have an 85 1.8, and Sigma 24-70 2.8, and a Sigma 15mm Fisheye. You can e-mail me for details.

The Photo class was so much fun!

Well my first Freshly Pic’d Photo Class 101 lesson on how you use your camera is done, and I have to say…. “That was soooo much fun!”

I think everyone enjoyed themselves very much. I was nice to see all these fun ladies in my house :) My second class went much smoother today but that is to be expected.  Thanks to everyone who came… you made it fun for me. Now I need to get ready for the Photoshop class… think that will be my favorite part :)

Oh and if I get 12 people to sign up, I will teach it again. I’ll try to get some testimonals from the students so you can hear what they thought about it

New logo and blog in the works…

I don’t really have any pictures to post at the moment.  I might could fish through some from all the Christmas Cards that I did, but I am kind of done with Christmas. I know that is bad, but I think it was somewhere on day 18 of solid Starz 93.7 that did it to me. Going to have to find some new music for next year!

I have happy news. I talked with the Graphic Designer Renee from Ribbons of Red today about my new logo and it’s in the works. Soon after that, my new blog is in the works!! Can I even tell you how excited I am?

Some of you may wonder why do I need a new logo and blog…. what I have is fine? That’s just it.. it’s fine.  I am going to take the time to talk about this b/c it’s very much a topic of interest for me and I can get it out of my system :) So here is my soap box…

A logo is more than just a font and a picture. It represents a message. In it you see what kind of person you precieve me to be, what kind of service I provide, and what product I produce. That a pretty important thing for such a little picture. When I got my first logo produced, I dreamed of having a brand that was pulled together and professional. It looked like a possibility but no matter what I tried there was no click. Hopefully Renee can help me accomplish this. What I would love, is to be able to look at what I see and love it. To feel like it represents the person I am and the kind of quality I desire to produce in my photography, as well as customer service.

I have a feeling this is going to be a great year for Melanie Pittman Photography! Lots of growth is on the way, and we will start it off fresh!

If you signed up for my class, you should have gotten an e-mail!

If you signed up for my photo class, you should have recieved an e-mail with all the info for it. If you did not get it let me know!!

I am soooo excited about it!! I had 21 sign up!!

A new decade… a new year!

Well I have had a wonderful break this Christmas and time to think about what I want to accomplish in this new year. It’s the year I will be 30, and a new decade to look forward to. What will the Thirties bring?

One of the things that I am most excited about it that I have a logo revision and custom blog that will be in the works starting on Jan 4th!! I am fully confident that Renee with Ribbons of Red Graphic Design will pull my brand together in a way that relects the type of quality that I desire to give my clients. You can check her out @  http://www.ribbonsofred.com  It will feel good to start out this year “Fresh!”  One of my goals is to have a blog that lives up to it’s name and post “daily.” (Or as least every 2-3 days!)

The other exciting news in our lives it that we are out of debt! This is something that Kirk has worked really hard for. It took a lot of discipline on his part and it brings me joy to see that pressure lifted off of him. I also have to say that it has been a joy to see God bless us in many ways to make this possible. It is very evident that without His help, we would not be where we are today!

For other personal goals, I tried to set ones that are attainable and write an action plan that I can realisticly stick to. For instance, I would like to loose 15-20lbs. Well instead of thinking that I need to reach that goal in a month, I have made it a yearly goal. I think my gift of patience goes into play here b.c that does not bother me one bit that it might be that long until I get there.  Two pounds a month is attainable for me. The other mindset that I am changing in this area is that in the past I have only exercised if I was dieting too. This year I am going to focus on exercising even if the calorie content is more than I need, to loose a pound in a day.

So how about you? What do you think 2010 will bring for you?

Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas…

I have been in the full swing of Christmas Card sessions and this one I just had to share! I just love all the colors… yeah for cute outfits from The Gap!! Thanks Stroud Family for being so fun and easy to work with!

Are you getting a new camera for Christmas? Want to learn how to use it?

I have been asked by a couple of mom’s if I would hold a class on how to improve their photography skills. So I thought January would be a great time to do that.

Here is the scoop:

There will be two time options.  WHICH MEANS IT’S TWO CLASSES!  Class A Thursday January 7th and Class B Thurdsday the 14th from 5-7pm or Class A Saturday January 9th and Class B Saturday the 16th from 1-3pm.  The class is only $70 and you get my custom action for Photoshop to help your images look amazing! It’s well worth the $70! Plus an album templete to create awesome looking albums of your family (and info where you can get them printed at a great price!)

  • We will go over how a camera works and get you shooting on Manual if you would like.
  • Talk about how to draw natural expressions out of your children and get images that don’t look “cheesy.”
  • How to use Photohop Elements to make your images look their best and I’ll provide notes with detailed steps of what I’ll teach you.

All you need is Photoshop Elements and it normally runs for about $100. My guess is that it will be on sale this time of year so I’ll be keeping my eye out where it will be the cheapest.  Oh and preferably a camera that can shoot on Manual that doesn’t have a shutter delay!

Also, I am getting a new point and shoot camera for Christmas so I am going to go out on Wednesday and see which cameras I think are best. If you are in the market for a camera, e-mail me at melanie@melaniepittman.com with what your needs are and I’ll see if I can’t help you out.

SPACE IS LIMITED! ONLY 12 TO A CLASS! Oh and you need to pay $30 to reserve your spot!!

A few M&M’s

So we had a big bang out birthday party for my neices: Molly, Mallory, & Maisie. I spent a lot of time getting ready for it last week so here are a few of my fav’s. Love these girls!!
